Rumors have surfaced the affair will recap cloud investments Microsoft has made so far, and will show how different the tech company's approach is compared to its rivals in the cloud service industry. Additional news is also to be expected.

Guthrie appeared at the recent Citi Global Tech Conference and talked about the company's scale as one feature that sets it apart from the competition. Microsoft currently has 17 regions around the world running its data centers.

He also emphasized the company's mobile device management service, Intune, and Enterprise Mobility Suite, which has the service. Guthrie also mentioned Microsoft's Azure ML machine-learning service (presently available in its preview form) as a crucial piece in the tech firm's cloud strategy.

Microsoft has been dishing out regular Azure updates, with one appearing every two to three weeks. In the previous week, the tech company announced availability of its Redis Cache Service, its Disaster Recovery to Azure service, additional features for its DocumentDB NoSQL service, the public preview of Elastic Scale for Azure SQL Database and more.

Meanwhile, one of on the company's competitors in the cloud storage market has opted to prioritize Microsoft's operating system rather than its own.

The iCloud Drive, Apple's upgrade to its cloud storage platform iCloud, has been released by the Cupertino-based company for Microsoft's Windows operating system ahead of the company's own OS X Yosemite.

To avail of the new feature, one must first download and install iCloud for Windows from Apple's support page. After restarting his computer, a user should see an option to enable iCloud Drive by ticking a check box on the iCloud's control panel.

After checking the box, the user should see a new entry for the iCloud Drive under "Favorites" in File Explorer, identical to other cloud storage platforms.

The default setting of the iCloud Drive has three specific folders for the Numbers, Pages and Keynote apps. The user should be able to create folders and drag-and-drop files just like on other cloud storage services.
