Instagram has become a hot-spot for spoiled kids to show off their wealth, with Rich Kids of Tehran being one of many accounts showing off the elite in the country. However, the Iranian government did not enjoy these photos being shown to the masses, and the account has been shut down.
Rich Kids of Tehran not only showed the excessive wealth of the elite, but had photos of young girls without traditional dress and men inebriated on alcohol, which is against the Muslim religion. To people inside and outside of Iran, it was a shock, since the government has high control over any and all obscenities.

The Instagram account quickly gained a high following outside of Iran, with more than 100,000 followers. This prompted someone else inside Iran to showcase the other side of the story, with "Poor Kids of Tehran," which showed examples of Iranian poverty.
Instagram is currently blocked in Iran, but most teenagers are able to get past the Iran censorship with simple VPN and DNS applications. The Iranian government cracks down on a website or online community every once in a while, but not to a large extent, giving Iranian's some freedom on the Internet.
Most of the kids featured on Rich Kids of Tehran are likely part of the elite circle in the Iranian government or sons and daughters of wealthy Iranian businessmen.
The rise in popularity for the page speaks to the trend happening inside Iran. Two thirds of the population are under 35 and there is quite a lot of rules being broken in the country, as more teenagers and younger people go against traditional Islamic values.
