(Photo : Wikipedia) British Islamic State hostage John Cantlie appeared in the fourth installment of Islamic State videos in which he promises to reveal the "truth" about the Islamist group.

British captive John Cantlie said the Islamic State is eagerly awaiting a ground war with the United States and its allies in the fourth propaganda video released Sunday night by the Islamist group.

Accompanying the video is the publication of a lengthy article allegedly written by the hostage in the group's glossy online magazine, the Dabiq.

In the chilling video, Cantlie said the Islamic State group was "dug in for the fight" with Western forces and warned that foreign jihadists returning to their home countries plan to launch attacks. He also accused Western governments of plunging their citizens in a war they cannot win against thousands of armed jihadists.

Wearing the distinct orange jumpsuit, the British captive warned that anyone who is hoping for "nice neat surgical" military offensives may be surprised at how bloody battles with the Islamic State could get.

So far, the U.S.-led coalition comprising of 40 countries has done little to abate the Islamic State's lethal advance in Syria and Baghdad.

In the seven-minute video, Cantlie describes the beheadings of his fellow hostages as "win-win" for the Islamic State. He said the Islamic State wins if the beheadings urge Western governments to spend millions on airstrikes, implying that such attacks are costly and deplete Western resources, thereby weakening them.

Policy changes and public anger resulting from the gruesome executions are considered by the Islamist group as favorable to their cause, he added.

The video's emergence coincides with the publication of the fourth issue of the Dabiq where Cantlie reveals horrifying details about his life in captivity. In the 2,100-word article entitled "Hard Talk - The Real Story Behind My Videos", Cantlie details how he was kept alone in a cell, while occasionally being allowed to use the Internet to check out his video appearances.

The British hostage also said he was awaiting his "turn," implying that he may be murdered soon by the barbaric terrorists, according to The Telegraph.

The 43-year-old journalist was horrifically tortured by a British Islamic State fighter dubbed as "Pinocchio", according to a witness quoted by the Daily Mirror after the beheading of Cantlie's fellow hostage, Alan Henning.

Tortures included beatings, electric shocks, waterboarding, and starvation while being given only dirty water to rink, a Belgian witness told the newspaper.

Cantlie was captured in northern Syria in 2012 where he had worked as a freelance photojournalist. He first appeared in an Islamic State video in September 18 in which he promised to release a series of videos that will reveal the "truth" behind the Islamic State.
