U.S. President Barack Obama is set to meet with military leaders of different countries on Tuesday to talk about strategies to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants.

The meeting is reportedly going to be held outside Washington, at the Andrews Air Force Base, according to the representative of General Martin Dempsey, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff chairperson.

The said meeting is expected to be attended by about 20 representatives from different countries including Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The gathering comes just three weeks before the U.S. midterm elections.

Critics claim that the meeting with the international military leaders aim to show the nation and the world that Obama's administration is dedicated to carrying out strategies to "degrade" ISIS, the group that has destroyed and taken hold of large regions of Iraq and Syria.

Gen. Dempsey will be leading the meeting in Washington, which will begin at around 3 p.m. EDT. The participants will talk about the strategies of the U.S.-led coalition troops against the jihadist group.

According to Alistair Baskey, White House spokesman for the National Security Council, the talks will be a part of the extended "efforts to build the coalition" and allow each country to contribute to the bigger strategy against ISIS.

However, there are those who challenge Obama's Obama's campaign against ISIS.

On Sunday, Senator John McCain, who is a constant critic of the administration, said the coalition forces is being defeated by the rebels. Additionally, the UN on Monday said the militants have overrun the city of Hit, and has pushed more than 180,000 people to leave their homes.

National security analyst Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies said the implementation of the strategy will take a while. Athough the campaign was not a total failure, it has also not yielded the desired results, he added.

Meanwhile, Dempsey's spokesman, Colonel Ed Thomas, said the meeting will not be tackling major steps in the campaign, but will be about the assembly of the group to talk about the hurdles of the campaign.
