Chinese customers have reportedly pre-ordered up to 20 million iPhone 6 units in only three days.

According to reports, mobile carriers and e-commerce websites in China accounted for 20 million pre-orders of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus since it opened on Oct. 10. Three of China's major mobile carriers, China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile, preordered 10 million units while JD.com or Jingdong Mall preordered 9.5 million.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders only started Oct. 10 in China and until the morning of Oct. 13, Jingdong mall and mobile carriers received over 20 million pre-orders.

This doesn't include pre-orders accepted by Apple or the company's more than 6,000 resellers in the country. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been on sale in the U.S. and other countries since Sept. 19 but China wasn't one of the first countries to receive it because of regulatory approval delays.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the new flagship devices for network access before retailers were able to start selling them. It approved the new devices late September.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units arrived in Chinese stores on Friday, Oct. 17.

The delayed release of the new iPhones in China allowed Samsung to release the Galaxy Note 4 earlier than planned.

The Galaxy Note 4 went on sale in South Korea and China late September.
