Vann had been taken into custody on Saturday afternoon for the death of 19-year-old Afrikka Hardy, whose remains were located at a motel in Hammond late on Friday.
Seven of his victims' remains were found over the weekend as the 43-year-old suspect continues to cooperate with authorities because "he was looking for a type of deal with prosecution," Police Chief John Doughty stated.
"He's been giving us descriptions, cooperating and accompanying us to locations," the Hammond police chief said to the media.
Authorities found the body of a 35-year-old woman identified as Anith Jones from Merrillville, Indiana, a woman who had been missing since October 8, in an abandoned house late on Saturday.
After that, five more bodies were located along the same block where they discovered Jones' remains.
Authorities found out that the two women were 28-year-old Teaira Batey and 36-year-old Christine Williams while three others were not yet identified.
According to Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, some of the bodies investigators recovered were "significantly decomposed," a sign of being buried for a while.
Doughty also declared that they will be opening cold cases and missing person reports because there may be more victims as the suspect's statement suggested that his crime may date back to nearly 20 years ago.
Court records from Travis County, Texas revealed that Vann had been listed as a "low" leveled sex offender in Texas before he transferred to Indiana after his release in July 2013.
According to reports, he pleaded guilty for raping a woman at an Austin apartment in 2007 and had served five years in prison.Indiana suspected serial killer of seven women in Northwest Indiana confess to crimes claiming that his killing spree began two decades ago.
