There were two reported sightings of the 31-year-old Eric Frein in the Pennsylvania area, which instigated the suspension of classes.
Frein Is charged with shooting at police officers outside the barracks of the Blooming Grove Police in September 12, which killed an officer and left another in critical condition.
According to authorities, the most recent sighting of Frein was near the Swiftwater post office on Monday.
The police searched the area, but found no traces of the fugitive, who is believed to be a self-taugt survivalist living in the woods across the region.
The Swiftwater post office is less than a half mile away from the school district.
In a statement released by state trooper Tom Kelly on Tuesday, a local police officer spotted Frein, but has lost visual on him when the suspect went deep into the woods.
"The area was searched but no one was located," Kelly said.
Three days prior to the post office sighting, a woman reported that she saw Frein near the Pocono Mountain East High School.
After Frein ran from the authorities, a massive search for him have been conducted in the woods near his parents' home, but the search was expanded to about 6 miles southwest of the original area, after he was sighted near the school.
Authorities believe that Frein was forced to change locations because of the massive pressure mounted by police, according to Lt. Col. George Bivens.
On Monday, the Pocono Mountain School District was still open, although tight security measures were already taken.
Additionally, more troops were also deployed in the area in response to the latest sighting to avoid any untoward incidents.
