(Photo : Reuters) Syria's President Bashar al-Assad continue to launch strikes against the Syrian rebels in order to regain areas that are controlled by the rebels.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's military campaign is still ongoing to recapture towns and provinces Syrian rebels seized amid the United States using the Syrian grounds to fight against the Islamic State (ISIS).
Assad is reportedly recapturing areas that he believes is important for his administration to survive. He has ordered the Syrian military to focus on recapturing Damascus and Aleppo, the two largest cities of Syria, instead of helping the U.S.-led coalition in dismantling ISIS.

The war between the Syrian rebels and the government continues with the rebels strengthening their operations in areas such as Damascus, Daraa and Quneitra.
However, Assad remains in control of key areas that keeps his regime in power, while the rebels continue to fight ISIS militants and Assad's regime.
On Tuesday, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported there were more than 200 government airstrikes that target rebel-controlled areas such as Aleppo, Damascus and Southern Syria for the past 36 hours. The observatory said the attacks are still continuing to escalate.
According to activist Hassan Taqieldeen, there is a massacre in Eastern Ghouta almost every day, noting that the government of al-Assad carries at least 20 air raids.
Meanwhile, Christopher Harmer, a senior naval analyst at the Institute for the Study of War, said the Syrian regime had some level of interest in taking a direct action against the ISIS militants before, but changed course because the U.S. is already doing the necessary measures. Assad's government no longer feels obligated in contributing to the growing threat.
American and Syrian militaries are said to have an unspoken alliance, buts both do not want to cross any military operations of their counterpart as it might cause conflict.
Harmer also talked about the plans of the Syrian regime and how timely it is that the U.S.-led coalition is in the area. He pressed that they are in a very favorable position, but noted that the government might not have the resources they need to be successful in their plans.
