The San Francisco Giants have put a sudden stop to the Kansas City Royals perfect post-season performance, with an impressive 7-1 win, putting the Giants' streak up to seven in the World Series opener.

Coming into the game, the Royals seemed to be on a roll as they have won eight straight games in the postseason.

However, the Giants were just too determined to add to their own winning streak and win their third title in five years. The Royals did not look anything like the fresh team with the winning streak.

Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner was instrumental to the win as he threw flawlessly for over seven innings. He only allowed only one run, three hits, and struck out five while he kept his skills alive for the game's end.

Early in the first inning, Hunter Pence hit a homerun with two players on bases to make a 3-0 early lead for the Giants.

With four more points, coming in pairs in both the fourth and seventh innings, this is the Giants' second highest scoring total in the postseason.

Baumgarner, a 25-year-old lefty pitcher has yet to lose in the three World Series appearances he has been in.

With starts in 2010, 2012, and the previous game against the Royals, he has amassed a stretch of 212/3 straight scoreless innings over his first three World Series games.

It is in the interest of the Royals to make sure the series does not extend to more than four games, as they will have to contend again with Baumgarner.

If the Giants win, they will have the distinction of being only the second National League team to capture three World Series trophies in five years.

If history is any indication, the Giants have the advantage, as the winners of the first games usually capture the series 68 percent of the time.
