Cubs Name Joe Maddon Manager

The long-suffering Chicago Cubs changed managers again Friday naming Joe Maddon as the 54 skipper in club history. Theo Epstein, Cubs president of baseball operations, said he hated to dismiss Rick Renteria after only one year, but did so during a narrow window in which Maddon, a two-time American League manager of the year, was available.

With the World Series down to its final game, or two games, the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals took a travel day off Monday to get ready for the final verdict. The Royals are down 3-2, but not out, especially given the teams resiliency this year and past history.
