Former White House Intern and overnight celebrity Monica Lewinsky launched a campaign last October 20 to fight online bullying. The TV personality and author shared that she is the first person to have ever been bullied and  misrepresented online.

At the Forbes Under 30 Summit, the former intern spoke of her infamy after the 1998 presidential scandal. "There was no Facebook, Twitter or Instagram back then. But, there was gossip, news and entertainment websites replete with comment sections and emails which could be forwarded. Of course, it was all done on the excruciatingly slow dial-up. Yet, around the world the story went," she recounted.

She remembered when news outlets and newspapers had her name splashed all over them and, how so many of what people perceived her were taken out of context and how the constant name-calling and gossiping made her want to die.

Lewinsky admitted that she fell hard for Bill Clinton when she first met him when she was only 22. She also recounted the time she was transferred to the Pentagon when her bosses felt that she was getting too familiar with the leader of the free world.

Once news of her affair and sexual encounters with the president were made public, Lewinsky no longer became a commoner. She became a woman hated by the American public.

Four years ago, Lewinsky learned of an 18-year old male who committed suicide after photos of him kissing another man were uploaded online. She said she was moved to stop and prevent cyber bullying after learning of the tragedy.

She said she is also a survivor of bullying and, that she wants to help "other victims of the shame game" survive as well.

After joining Twitter on Monday for the first time, the once infamous figure managed to attract thousands of followers after her Forbes speech.
