Android 5.0 Lollipop Battery Saving Feature to Extend Battery by 90 Minutes

Google showcased its power saving mode in its latest developer preview and according to some analysts, it appears to be the same with only one exception, which is the status and navigation bars turning orange until the user deactivates the mode.

Reports, however, say Android Lollipop brings the biggest refresh in intuitiveness and appearance.

Android 5.0 Lollipop features the new Material Design UI and developers were also able to enhance different segments of the operating system, including the notification center and lock screen. Some say the battery improvement is one of the most impressive features of the new Android version.

The battery saver features extend the device's battery life for up to 90 minutes. Android L will tell the user how much time it still needs to reach full battery life while the settings will also show the estimated time before the user needs to charge the device again.

When the power saving mode is activated, the screen brightness will be reduced, animations will be deactivated and background data will be disabled. Vibration will also be turned off to make the device run longer.

The color orange will remain until the user deactivates the power saving mode. It can result in clashing colors and the user will have to deal with it if he wants to use his device longer before having to recharge.

Android 5.0 L will come on the Google Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 out of the box. The Droid Turbo is expected to be launched soon with a preinstalled Android L. A lot of Android devices are set to receive the Android Lollipop update soon.
