A reckless jogger collided with British Prime Minister David Cameron Monday morning in a 'very significant security breach' that has prompted the Scotland Yard to launch an immediate investigation.

The prime minister was leaving the Leeds Civic Hall after a press conference when Dean Balboa Farley ran into him, forcing Cameron to dodge while his security detail looked on.

In a matter of minutes, Farley, who appeared to have unintentionally collided with the prime minister, was arrested, questioned and released.

Metropolitan Police commissioner Bernard Hogan Howe immediately issued an inquiry into how a random member of the public could get so close to the prime minister.

West Yorkshire Police later ruled out the possibility of a threat, saying there was "nothing sinister" about the incident.

The prime minister was not harmed in the incident.

Witness Chris Wilson said Cameron side-stepped the sprinting man and calmly walked to his waiting car. He was driven away as Farley was being tackled by Cameron's security, Wilson told The Independent.

The bizarre event raised questions over the prime minister's security in the light of a series of terrorism attacks against Westerners.

The collision with Farley comes less than a week after a gunman attacked the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa and days after a lone-wolf axe-wielding man attacked two police officers in New York City.

Tory MP Mark Pritchard called for an in-depth investigation into how such a breach of security could happen at a time of heightened threat level.

Farley took to Facebook his reaction on the incident, claiming he was all over the news for attacking the prime minister. He was shown on the video of the incident as crossing the pavement towards Cameron.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Farley detailed his confusion at being arrested on his way to a personal training session. He was initially reported as a protester who "shoved" Prime Minister Cameron.

Farley denied the accusation, saying he was not politically-minded and had, in fact, only realized who he ran into an hour after his arrest.
