Reports claim the installation of the network will be completed by the end of this year.
Fed Ex Field has 85,000 seats and is one of the biggest stadiums in the National Football League (NFL), according to official reports. With the new Wi-Fi network, fans will be able to access mobile apps, watch videos and even share their game experience via social media sites.
Huawei had also been working on other stadium projects including Signal Iduna Park in Germany, Glasgow Ibrox Stadium in the UK and the Amsterdam Arena in The Netherlands.
The partnership marks Huawei's first major sports sponsorship in the U.S.
Mitch Gershman, CMO of Washington Redskins, said the Chinese tech firm's experience with other stadium projects worldwide is one of the reasons they chose to work with the vendor.
The Chinese giant will provide high density wireless networking technology at the stadium that will replace the existing infrastructure.
Senior Solution Sales and Marketing Manager Rob Verkon of Huawei Enterprise USA said other areas such as offices and parking lots will also need Wi-Fi connectivity.
Reports claim Huawei is also in talks with other sport clubs in the U.S that may be interested in upgrading their venues. Sport clubs include teams from the Major League Baseball and the NBA.
"We've got quite a bit of activity going on in this vertical ... It's a very compelling place to be right now for leveraging, particularly Wi-Fi, technology," Verkon told Fierce Wireless Tech.
