No More Taylor Swift Music On Spotify

Taylor Swift has pulled out her music from online streaming portal Spotify.

The pop artist took off her entire catalogue without giving further explanation behind the move. This has caused empty playlists for 19 million Taylor Swift fans, reports the music service.

Taking off her music from the music service could possibly be a move to help Swift’s album sales surge before making it available in music streaming apps. The pop star’s latest release, "1989," has been sitting on top of the US and Australia charts. It has also been reported to become one of the largest selling albums by a female singer.

Meanwhile, an insider told Rolling Stone that Big Machine, Swift’s record label, will be up for sale. This was the reason why the tracks were taken down from the music service by record label executive Scott Borchetta. The move was supposed to help maximize the value of the company and drive their sales before going on sale.

The source also said the move just came out of the blue. A similar explanation by an industry insider was given to Billboard. The source said Big Machine is using the scarcity of Swift’s music on the streaming service to drive the company’s sale price.

Meanwhile, Spotify begged the pop artist to reconsider her decision in taking down her entire music catalogue from the service. Spotify said more than 40 million users love the singer as much as the music service loves Swift. The streaming service also said about 16 million users have played Swift’s songs in the last 30 days. Furthermore, they said her songs were all over more than 19 million playlists.

Spotify said they are hoping for Swift to change her decision. They also said they are hoping for the artist to help them build the new economy for music. Spotify added users should be able to listen to music they like wherever and whenever they like. Moreover, Spotify said they return 70% of their revenue to the music industry and protect artists from piracy.
