Blair is representing the 59th district of the state, which has over 18,000 people. According to her, she will have to make up for her classes next year during summer and fall so she can attend the above-mentioned event.
Blair has already been noticed by the public when she was only 17 years old when she defeated the 67-year-old Republican incumbent. She has just turned 18 in July and is legally allowed to serve her state as their delegate.
Saira Blair, the daughter of state Senator Craig Blair and that she has donated around US$3,600 from her own money to launch her campaign.
Her platform includes laws about anti-abortion, pro-gun, and anti-gay marriage views. She is also said to repeal the law in West Virginia regarding high gas taxes.
The youngest lawmaker is reportedly to major in Spanish and Economics and wants to be a financial adviser by the time she graduates.
Blair has been interviewed about her running for the state at a very young age and she explained that her father, a politician, has influenced her decision.
"After my junior year of high school, I decided to run because I attended a program called Youth and Government, where 300 students go down to Charleston," she said. "They write a bill, they hear it in committee, and they bring it out on house floor."
Saira Blair realized students are fully capable of what 40 to 50-year-old do so she decided not to wait any longer before pursuing her political goals. She conveyed her desire to create more jobs in the state as she sees a lot of youth leaving the area after graduating from high school as there are no opportunities for them in West Virginia.
