Surging Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight fighter Anthony Johnson just had his indefinite suspension lifted and will be returning to fight in the organization.
The UFC recently announced that the civil case filed against Johnson, which stemmed from past allegations of domestic abuse brought forward by one of his ex-relationships, has been dismissed. As a result, he has been cleared to return to the UFC.

"The person who filed a civil temporary protection order against UFC contender Anthony Johnson last September voluntarily dismissed their complaint last week in the Florida Circuit Court," the UFC stated.
They continued on, explaining that before the case was dismissed, the presiding judge independently questioned the alleging party with regards to their voluntary intentions. Afterwards, the judge dismissed the whole case.
The domestic abuse case came at the most inopportune time for Johnson. With 18 wins and only four losses in his career, Johnson had a revitalized comeback to the octagon which saw him skyrocketing to the top of his division.
Then, on September 19, allegations of domestic abuse issues came to light. It was amplified by the case of National football League (NFL) player Ray Rice.
At the time, Johnson was being paired for a potential match with former challenger for the title, Alexander Gustafsson. It was already set on paper for a December 13 card, as indicated by UFC President Dana White.
When Johnson was implicated in the case, the UFC came forward with a stern attitude towards it. They made it public that the organization would not tolerate domestic violence, sexual assault, or any other violations of its Code of Conduct.
This is what prompted White and the UFC to place Johnson under indefinite suspension. However, they also carried out their own investigations on the case.
Johnson remains the third ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. His rise came with a win over Phil Davis and a 44-second knockout victory over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
