(Photo : Reuters) LG has beat everyone to the punch, by announcing the LG G3 will get Android 5 Lollipop by the end of next week.

When Android 5 Lollipop started hitting Nexus devices, several manufacturers such as Motorola, HTC and Sony announced plans to add the update to their core lineup.

LG remained quiet on the subject, but announced earlier today that it will be adding Android 5 Lollipop to the LG G3 by the end of next week.

This will make the LG G3 the second device outside of Google's own to grab the new update, the first being Motorola's Moto X. LG has not outlined plans to update any of its older devices.

The rollout will not come to everyone, in fact, the first market getting the update will be Poland, surprisingly. It looks like the LG G3 has a strong following in the region, or some sort of carrier advantage allowing faster updates.

Whatever the case, other markets won't be far behind as LG wants to get all markets on Android 5 Lollipop by the end of the year. The U.S. and other countries where carriers mess with the update before bringing it live might take longer.

When it comes to updates, LG has never been the best. On top of its rather expansive skin UI, LG also is a slow runner when it comes to getting the update out across multiple devices, leading a lot of the older or low-end phones to never see an update.

This might have changed with the recent 10-year cross-licensing agreement between Google and LG, alongside LG working with Google on the Nexus 5.

LG Germany did say the LG G2 would be update to Android 5 Lollipop a short-time later than the LG G3. No word on the LG Optimus G Pro and when it will be updated, currently sitting on Android KitKat 4.4.2.
