Google Reveals Rollout Plans For Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android 5.0 Lollipop has been the slowest update to come out of Google since the beginning of the open-source OS. After being announced at Google I/O in June, it has took the search giant the best part of four months to make sure everything is in order.
The update is finally coming to older devices, after launching with the Motorola Nexus 6 and HTC Nexus 9. Google has updated the roadmap for Android 5.0 Lollipop, adding Nexus, Google Play Edition and Android One devices.

As usual, Google's own will get first dibs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 Edition) and Nexus 10 getting the update first. Google is continuing to update the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2012 Edition and Nexus 10, despite their older age.
Google Play Edition devices will get the update around the same timeframe; this includes the Galaxy S4, HTC One M7 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Google has not announced any new Google Play Edition devices in 2014, meaning this program is most likely over.
The next priority for Google is Android One, the new program started in India. Partners Micromax, Karbonn and Spice Mobile have all developed low-end Android devices, which will get the latest updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop on top of a clean stock Android UI.
This is all of Google's devices in the list and all should be updated by the start of 2015. Third party manufacturers, on the other hand, have been slower to update their devices, even though some have announced dates.
Sony announced the full Xperia lineup would get the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop between early 2015 and mid 2015. HTC has revealed the One M7 and One M8 will receive the update within 90 days. Motorola is matching that with the Moto X 2013 and Moto X 2014, coming before the end of 2015.
Samsung will reportedly update the Galaxy S5 before the end of 2015, alongside the Galaxy Note 4. LG has not announced any specific update schedules, although the LG G3 is almost certainly going to get the update sometime in the near future.
Other providers in China have been less upfront about their update schedule, with Lenovo, Xiaomi and Huawei all not providing a roadmap for rollout.
