Developer 343 Industries plans to return to its roots by focusing on competitive online gameplay. The company is bringing back small competitive maps and fast tempo game-modes where teamwork is essential like in previous "Halo 2" and "Halo 3" installments.
Gamers will have the opportunity to test the final beta for about three weeks starting Dec. 29, which will consist of three different game-modes and seven unique maps.
One brand new game-mode apart of the beta is confirmed as "Breakout." Breakout is essentially a four-on-four team-based game that's similar to rules of paintball. Each player receives only one life each round and the objective is to kill the other team before they kill yours. The team to win five rounds first wins the match.
A new feature called the Smart Scope will be implemented and allows all weapons - even the energy sword - to aim while putting a scope on enemies. This feature drastically improves the effectiveness of weapons like the assault rifle, which was always subpar in previous installments.
343 Industries is also returning back to its roots by simplifying gameplay. It took away ordnance drops and loadouts introduced in "Halo 4" and Armor Abilities from "Halo Reach" is also gone.
Instead, all gamers will begin the match with the same loudout and will have the ability to sprint infinitely. Additionally, sprinting full speed and pressing crouch enables a new slide mechanic feature.
This information only scratches the surface, as there's several improvements and changes 343 Industries decided to implement that gamers will have to experience in the upcoming beta. While an official release date for "Halo 5: Guardians" has yet to be announced, Xbox gamers can set their sights for a fall 2015 launch.
