(Photo : Reuters) BlackBerry might be out of the mobile race, but under the leadership of CEO John Chen, it is starting to become a big player in the mobile enterprise market.

BlackBerry has announced a new partnership with several high-profile tech companies, stretching its enterprise reach to Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices.

The new mobile management and security platform, named BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES12), will support several new features for businesses and governments.

The service will secure all sorts of different information, including medical diagnostics. Salesforce.com will partner with BlackBerry to offer different medical services, through the BlackBerry platform.

BES12 will also work with Brightstar, the world's largest wireless distribution company, for enterprise workers. BlackBerry is intent on making this platform available to all types of businesses, offering additional security from top companies and management solutions.

Samsung will partner with BlackBerry Enterprise Service, making all Galaxy devices compatible with the service. The partnership was announced by BlackBerry CEO John Chen, who said this is a "long-term commitment" between the two companies.

Having Samsung on board is a huge plus for BlackBerry, which needs the support of manufacturers to make BES12 even more efficient. Several Samsung devices have been given the go-ahead by major government departments, passing safety tests.

BlackBerry is continuing into the world of services - moving away from competing solely on hardware. The BlackBerry Passport appears to have done well in the business market, exceeding 200,000 sales some time ago.

The new enterprise service comes alongside new updates to BlackBerry's consumer services, including video messaging on BBM and the ability to split costs between the employee and employer, a first on messaging.

BlackBerry's stock is up 7 percent to $12.06, the highest it has been since 2013. CEO John Chen has managed to turn the company around from a complete nose-dive after taking over from the previous CEO Thorsten Heins.

In the mobile enterprise market, Google, Microsoft, Apple and IBM all want a piece of the pie. Even Samsung - the company who just partnered with BlackBerry - has an enterprise platform, called KNOX. BlackBerry will need to offer some impressive features to make its own enterprise service standout.
