New Twitter Feature 'Mute' Prevents Oversharing in the Site

Twitter users can now have a cleaner profile with their brand new feature called "Mute", which helps prevent trashy oversharing of several followers on anyone's feed list.
Twitter formally announced the "Mute" feature in its own blog post which it said works both on the microblogging site and on its Android and iPhone app versions.

It simply allows Twitter users to finally screen the kinds of content they see on their news feed by hiding those they do not like seeing without needing to press on the unfollow button.
The new feature also means that users won't be able to offend each other since no one will know if someone has muted them or not. The only fact to consider is that the muted user's tweets won't be seen anymore on the feeds of the other user who muted them, reports CBS News.
This newest Twitter offering is just an addition to their other updates like the redesign of their interface similar to the looks of Facebook, and their photo features that were upgraded to look like Instagram.
The accounts users can mute are those that they already follow, states Recode.net. The feature is not yet available for everyone's use as the rollout has just started and will take several more weeks to complete.
However, as per Twitter's Help Center, users can click on the "More" button right at the bottom part of a tweet and then simply choose "mute" @Username. Any user should visit the other user's profile and click the red icon to unmute.
This brand new Twitter feature does not affect the usual blocking policy of the site, according to CNET. Users can still completely block anyone in their list though Twitter did not comment on its possible connection to the "Mute" tool.
