Notably, Android 5.0 factory images are available only for Nexus 7 Wi-Fi versions. 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7 users using cellular connectivity have yet to receive it.

The Nexus line isn't the only product that will get Android 5.0 Lollipop. Motorola also announced the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS is seeding to the Moto X 2014 Pure Edition and Moto G 2014 while the LG G3 also started getting a customized Android 5.0 Lollipop build.

For those that don't want to wait for the over-the-air update, they can download factory images from the Google Nexus websites.

Google rolls out a few hours after Motorola announced its progress of rolling out the new build for its two devices.

Android 5.0 Lollipop has a new user interface called Material Design UI executed across all Google services and apps with third party app compatibility programmed by developers. It also offers the Project Volta battery tool, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Runtime.

PhoneArena listed some important features in Android 5.0 Lollipop which aren't in iOS 8 and iOS 8.1. Some features could soon be available in Apple's mobile devices but other features may never be.

The first on the list is the guest mode, which Android devices have had for some time. The guest mode allows users to configure their devices to allow access only to certain data and apps when the phone is being used by anyone who doesn't own the device.

The functionality prevents other users from changing settings. It's not found on iOS 8 and the Family Sharing feature allows sharing of media content with a maximum of six users only.
