The sequel will reportedly show Derek Zoolander and his nemesis Hansel as they are forced to re-invent himself in order to still have their spot in the modelling world. Jennifer Aniston's soon to be husband, Justin Theroux wrote the script for the sequel while Ben Stiller will take his seat as both the lead start and director of the film.
In 2010, Stiller had already talked about the sequel and that it would be focusing much more on how the modeling industry has changed since Zoolander and his arch nemesis Hansel, fought for their rights on the catwalk, "In the fashion industry, if you go away for a year, it's changed when you come back, everything just happens so quickly. I think in the beginning of the sequel, it's ten years later and both Derek and Hansel have long been forgotten by everyone. Nobody remembers who they are anymore and they have to work on reinventing themselves in order to make a comeback." Stiller said during an interview with MTV.
The first Zoolander film was released in September 28, 2001 and earned $60 million worldwide, which was more than the films budget of $28 million, it was released with the tagline 3% Body Fat. 1% Brain Activity.
