(Photo : Reuters) Sony Pictures has been hacked by a group going under the name #GOP, claiming if Sony do not comply with demands, they will release sensitive information.
Companies are certainly becoming a larger target for hacking groups, who are fed up with single target accounts and passwords.
One of these hacking groups - going under the name #GOP - have successfully breached Sony Pictures' internal systems, blocking almost all day-to-day work and blackmailing the studio.

Workers at Sony Pictures were greeted this morning to an alien face and information that they have been hacked by #GOP. The group claims it will release private information - located on .zip files - if the company does not do what they want before 11PM GMT.
It is not clear exactly what the hackers want from Sony Pictures. The information from the screengrab gives nothing on the demands of the hacking group, but it is most likely money the group are after.
The hacking group were able to gain access to a various amount of Sony Twitter accounts, leading security experts to believe Sony is using the same credentials for most of its Twitter accounts, something Twitter has pleaded companies do not do if they care about security.
It is a rather difficult time for Sony, who have faced mass scale hacks before on PlayStation. These hackers were brought to face the courts, but the #GOP is looking to make real demands against Sony, even if these demands will most likely go unanswered.
The .zip files could contain anything from internal documents, passwords or potentially material for films. All of this is volatile in the wrong hands, although it would not be a huge deal if a film reel was leaked.
Sony Pictures has not been able to access the system internally, meaning all of the employees are incapable of sending emails or getting anything done on the computer.
Sony has announced they are looking into the hacking attempt. There has been no official statement from the U.S. authorities regarding the attack and if Sony is working with authorities to catch the people responsible for the attack.
