Actor Ryan Reynolds is reportedly closing a deal with Fox to play the titular role of Deadpool for a feature film which will begin filming in March 2015.

Wade "Deadpool" Wilson, the Marvel character Reynolds played and introduced in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", is characterized as the "Merc with a Mouth" because of his talkative and wise-cracking persona. Aside from his propensity towards humorous verbosity, the character is also depicted as mentally unstable and disfigured due to being left scarred by military experiments that were done on him to help him heal quickly.

The 38-year old actor also teased fans with the news. He took to Twitter to post a portrait of Deadpool made of bullets with the caption, "Uh... It's Chimichanga Time." Artist Mike Oncley created the said portrait.

Tim Miller will be taking the reins as director, while Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of "Zombieland" fame will be writing the screenplay. Lauren Shuler Donner and Ken Feige will serve as producers.

The new flick is set for release on February 12, 2016.

While everything is progressing very nicely for Reynolds on the career front, his personal life seems to be just as rosy as well.

The actor is expecting his first child with second wife, "Gossip Girl" actress Blake Lively, whom he met in 2010 on the set of the film "Green Lantern".

While the two each had partners when they co-starred in the film and subsequently dated other people before becoming a couple, the two developed a close friendship and officially became a couple in 2011.

Lively and Reynolds wed in 2012.

"We've never gone a week without seeing each other. There's no major decision that I make without him. The best part is when we turn off our phones and just talk and hang out. He's my best, best friend. What do you do with your best friend? You do nothing," Lively once shared.
