The hackers are back, and this time their latest victim is women's apparel store Bebe from where they stole credit and debit card information.

They gained access to Bebe's payment-processing systems that provided them the names of customers, account numbers, expiration dates and verification codes. The hacking happened sometime between November 8 and 26, reports CNET.

Those stolen data are enough to purchase items from the store fraudulently. Fortune reports that cards were used at various Bebe stores across the U.S. between November 18 and 28, citing the BrebsOnSecurity blog.

Brian Krebs, author of the blog, said the hacked data were sold by an online cybercrime site for US$10-$27 per card to an East Coast bank. The hacked data were encoded on fake credit and debit cards to make fraudulent purchases.

Bebe, which has 175 retail stores worldwide and 35 more outlet stores said, the attack was done on through in-store purchases in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. No mobile and online purchases were done by the buyers of the hacked data.

Jim Wiggett, CEO of Bebe, assured customers that they are the store's highest priority and Bebe acknowledges how important it is to protect their information. Bebe has initiated measures to block the attacker and enhance the company's security measures.

Krebs noted that while Bebe offers free credit monitoring services for one year for affected customers, shoppers still need to check their monthly statements for unauthorized purchases and report them to Bebe for action.

Other retailers victimized by hackers recently were Target and Sony Pictures.

In 2013, the data thieves stole more than 110 million customer records from Target and sold them to hackers through underground Internet portals with mostly criminals as customers.

Hackers also paralyzed Sony Pictures' operations in late November for one week after they released online screenings of movies. Also stolen were compensation packages of Sony executives, scripts and other information that were eventually leaked.
