The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that China state broadcaster CCTV has secured the Chinese broadcast rights to four Olympics through 2024.

"On behalf of the IOC I am delighted that we will continue to work with our longstanding broadcast partner CCTV," IOC president Thomas Bach said. "They have demonstrated many times their ability to bring first class coverage of the Olympic Games to hundreds of millions of Chinese people."

The Chinese broadcast rights will be for all Olympic events beginning 2018 leading up to 2024. That includes the XXIII Olympic Winter Games that's scheduled to be hosted by the South Korean county of Pheongchang located in the Taebaek Mountains in 2018, and the 2020 Summer Olympics that's scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2022 Olympic Winter Games and 2024 Summer Olympics are also apart of the exclusive partnership between the CCTV and the IOC, but which cities would be hosting these events have yet to be confirmed.

Beijing is currently competing with Almaty, Kazakhstan, and recently made a strong claim following a successful visit from the International Ski Federation. According to the snowboard race director, the potential Beijing Olympics location already has good terrain and doesn't need much before its capable of hosting the event.

"This is a win-win agreement," says the President of CCTV Hu Zhanfa. "CCTV has been contributing enormously to the recognition and promotion of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement in China, and we are determined to be, as always, a powerful and exceptional partner of the IOC."
