(Photo : REUTERS/Mike Blake) A Hallmark greeting card about job loss is seen for sale in Encinitas, California September 26, 2011.
The company Hallmark Cards Inc. recently pulled out their latest design for gift wrappers for the Hanukkah season. Apparently, the design has a swastika embedded in which a customer saw after purchasing from Walgreens in Northridge, California.
Hallmark spokesperson Julie Elliot defended the company saying the design was not exactly meant for the Hanukkah season. According to The Kansas City Star, the company already pulled it out from Walgreens since complains have reached their headquarters.

On behalf of the whole company, Elliot said it is not their intention to offend anyone, especially the Jewish community members who were greatly affected by it. The company did not really notice it, as the lines intersecting on the paper could be viewed as a swastika, she explained.
Everybody knows that the swastika sign is not something anyone would like as a design on anything, and definitely a holiday wrapper for Hanukkah just made the whole thing worse.
Unfortunately, that is the real story while a certain woman from California was browsing the drugstore's Hanukah display. She then looked at the roll of the wrapping paper made my Hallmark and was astonished by what she saw.
One would not notice it at first glance. But upon closer inspection, one will find it impossible not to see the swastika pattern. And another worst thing is that they are all over the wrapping paper.
The woman who saw it goes by the name of Cheryl Shapiro. She said that she panicked upon seeing Adolf Hitler's sign of the Nazi party, which caused the death of 6 million Jews during the 2nd World War.
Hallmark sincerely sent their apologies to the public and made it clear that it was an oversight. The controversial swastika wrappers are officially off the racks.
