Civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton may encourage Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal to resign from her post during their meeting next week, following the recent email leaks wherein she made comments about President Barack Obama's race.
In a private email exchange with producer Scott Rudin, Pascal states that she thinks the president might be a fan of films with black actors or movies that are black-centric, such as "Django Unchained".

The said exchange were published by Buzzfeed, but has yet to be confirmed by Reuters.
Following the leak, Sharpton released a statement on Thursday in which he slammed Pascal's comments as being reflective of the "lack of diversity" in Hollywood. He stated that Pascal, along with the production company, should move towards respecting "the African American community and reflect that respect in their hiring and business practices".
According to Sharpton's spokeswoman Jacky Johnson, Pascal called up Sharpton to apologize to him after the civil rights leader released his statement. Sharpton stated that he did not accept the Sony exec's apology, and insisted that she meet with him in person so he could decide for himself if her apology warrants forgiveness, and if he should call for her resignation or not.
A spokesperson for Sony did not release any comment regarding Pascal's apology, nor her upcoming meeting with Sharpton.
Pascal released a statement as well, apologizing for her messages, calling them "insensitive and inappropriate." She also confirmed that she reached out to Sharpton and Reverend Jess Jackson in order to start "a healing process".
Aaron Sorkin, one of those whose messages with Pascal were leaked, defended the exec, saying, "Amy knows more than a lot of people what it's like to battle stereotypes. She's a woman at a large corporation who worked her way from assistant to the chairman's office. No one in the world feels worse than she does right now."
