All the hype that was being put on Johnny Manziel starting for the Cleveland Browns was for naught. The game against the Cincinnati Bengals was a drubbing (30-0), with Manziel being tormented and taunted by Bengals players.

The Bengals had a welcome party ready for Manziel. However, it was not filled with cake and balloons. Instead, what they had in store was a suffocating defense, multiple sacks against him, and his own signature money sign being used against him.

Since the whole week was full of news about Manziel, the Bengals players just focused on what they had to do to stop him, Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga said.

Manziel was promoted earlier this week after Brian Hoyer was showed to the bench, leaving room for the quarterback position.

As far as this game was concerned though, the Manziel hype was not real. He finished 10 of 18 for 80 yards and two interceptions.

In addition, he was sacked three times during the game and was under pressure all afternoon. Bengals players were imitating his signature "money-rubbing" gesture more than once.

"Every time we hit him, every time we got him on his back," said defensive tackle Domata Peko. "So it was a lot of money signs thrown out today."

Even with the terrible performance though, Manziel is taking it like a champ. He says that it is tough when gets beat but he has to take everything "like a man."

The big stage might have been too much for Manziel, as he panicked in the pocket and failed to show the same talent that made him a star in the college scene.

Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine acknowledged that Manziel looked and played like a rookie.

The Browns were unable to get onto the scoreboard, a first since the 16-0 loss against the Baltimore Ravens in 2009.
