Android 5.1 Lollipop Release: New Features in February

Nexus Player console runs Lollippop

The latest Android 5.0.1 version is currently being released to the world Google will roll out Android 5.1 in February, bringing with it numerous enhancements and improvements.

It could also arrive with a new name but Jelly Bean and Éclair were exceptions and the tech giant could stick with the Lollipop moniker. Google remains mum about the reports, though.

The Android 5.1 OS changelog has already been published and sources claim it will bring the silent mode feature back. It was a feature removed in the 5.0 Lollipop update.

The new build is also said to be more stable than previous versions. Battery management and RAM will be enhanced. Issues such as sudden app crashing, Okay Google problems, Wi-Fi connectivity problems and alert issues will also be fixed.

The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop is said to be aesthetic just like the iOS 8 with an even wider range of options for its users. One of the top advantages of Android over Apple is its ability to choose and modify.

Android 5.0 Lollipop has a new user interface called Material Design UI executed across all Google services and apps with third party app compatibility programmed by developers.

It also offers the Project Volta battery tool, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Runtime. The guest mode allows users to configure their devices to allow access only to certain data and apps when the phone is being used by anyone that doesn't own the device. The functionality prevents other users from changing settings.
