Columbia Pictures distributes the Bond movies.
"Idris should be the next Bond," Pascal stated in a simple yet very telling email.
Although current James Bond actor Daniel Craig has signed on to do a fifth movie, the star has made it known that he intends on leaving the franchise after. Craig is currently working on the fourth Bond movie entitled "Spectre".
Craig admitted that he has been trying to exit the James Bond franchise the moment he got involved with it, but that the studio wants him to stay on.
"I've agreed to do a couple more, but let's see how this one does, because business is business and if it goes down, I've got a contract that somebody will happily wipe their ass with," Craig shared candidly.
"Spectre" is scheduled to open in theaters on November 6 next year.
Elba has expressed that he definitely won't say no if the role was offered to him.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, he shared that if he were cast as James Bond, "it would be the will of a nation" and, that it would show how the public truly has a say to what happens in movie.
The actor also claimed many of those around him have expressed how they would love to see him as the next star to play the iconic spy.
Meanwhile, Elba is keeping himself busy with big feature films including "Luther", "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Bastille Day" and "The Jungle Book." So, far he has no film scheduled beyond 2016.
