White-collar workers in China apparently are not happy with their sex lives, based on a survey conducted by national online recruitment firm Zhaopin.com.
Chinese office workers say they are happier when they are in the boardroom than when they are in the bedroom, the survey showed. Given a scale of one to five, with one representing the lowest level of satisfaction and five being the highest, respondents gave their sex lives an average rating of 1.64, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported.

On the other hand, the employees rated their job satisfaction at 2.41. The poll was conducted among 9,000 respondents in 32 cities in China.
Although the survey also touched on the respondents' physical health, family, vacation, and reading habits, it did not cite reasons why they were not contented with their sexual activities.
The results gleaned from the survey, however, suggest that the frequency of sex may be the culprit in the issue. Half of the respondents revealed they had sex once in a month, sometimes less frequent than that.
Meanwhile, one-fourth of the respondents said they have sex once a week, WSJ relayed.
There are some local studies that show employees in the world's most populous country have a hard time balancing between their work and personal lives. Because of this, many economists suggest Chinese workers reduce their working hours to boost their productivity on the job.
Another study by China Sexology Association, which looked at the sexual habits of Chinese citizens, revealed late last year that 44 percent of men have sexual encounters less than once a week. In addition, 37 percent of men say they have sex one to three times in a week.
Only 8 percent of the respondents in study said they have sex five times or more in a week, the report detailed.
By contrast, a survey in the U.S. by "The State of Love and Sex in Single America" last year showed that 62 percent of single men and women want to increase their sexual activity. The said poll involved 5,329 single individuals in the western nation.
It is worth noting that the American respondents in the survey did not only look at the quantity but also suggested increasing the quantity of their bedroom activities. Only 15 percent of the males and 12 percent of the females want to have sex every day.
