TV King Wayne Lai considers 2014 a very productive year for him in both his film and TV projects. The actor was finally able to go on an eight-day vacation in Hokkaido with his wife and friends in December.
Lai said it was a well-deserved break that was made all the more special by the fact that he spent it enjoying Hokkaido's hot springs, something that he was experiencing for the first time. Hokkaido is the second largest island in Japan that is popular for its hot springs during the winter season.

Lai also noted that the winter scenery in Japan is different from Canada.
"It was an outdoor hot spring in Lake Toya. Beside the hot spring was a mountain covered in an inch of white snow. My friend said it was fun to lie on the snow and told me to try. You only live once and since this was a rare opportunity, I laid on the snow without clothes on. The cold feeling was very good. It lasted about 2-3 seconds and then I went back to the hot springs. The combination of hot and cold was very refreshing. This is my first time going in the snow. It was so cold I forgot about everything. I just buried myself in the snow and rolled around in it," the actor said.
Although Lai had enjoyed the Hokkaido vacation, he shared one horrifying experience when his car ran out of gas one evening. They were caught up in a snowstorm and the road was too hazardous to drive on.
"Everyone was worried about having to spend the night on the mountain but thankfully the gas lasted long enough until we saw the gas station," Lai recounted.
Wayne Lai summed up the trip as both a memorable and exciting experience.
