Famous celebrities Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep schmoozed at the prestigious AFI Awards luncheon held at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on January 9, according to Variety Magazine.

As Norman Lear said to the crowd of 270 people, "There hasn't been so much talent in one place since Orson Welles dined alone in Ciro's".

The event acknowledged the 21 notable films and TV works of 2014, which AFI had previously announced in December.

There were no competition and acceptance speeches. The atmosphere was relaxed, with everyone simple praising one another's works. Even media presence was minimal.

The "Foxcatcher" representatives talked with team "Selma " while American director Richard Linklater shared a brief chat with Noah Hawley. Harvey Weinstein also joined a table with Ted Sarandos.

Studio Chief Executive Officers Robert Iger, Kevin Tsujihara and Jeff Snell also received commendation for their studios' works.

From the usual 10 films being recognized, AFI salutes 11 films this year.

The film honorees that made it the list include "American Sniper", "Birdman", "Boyhood", "Foxcatcher", "Into The Woods", "Nightcrawler", "Selma", "Unbroken" and "Whiplash".

There were six new entries on TV works, adding to the classic four continuing series such as "Mad Men", "Game Of Thrones", "Orange Is The New Black" and "The Americans".

"The Knick", a hospital drama set in the 1900s starring Clive Owen, was included in the six new entries.

Other TV works were "Fargo", "How to Get Away with Murder", "Jane The Virgin", "Silicon Valley" and "Transparent."

These selections are carefully sifted by juries consisting of AFI trustees, scholars, film and television artists and critics.

According to AFI, the awards acknowledge film and TV works that are "deemed culturally and artistically representative of the year's most significant achievements in the art of the moving image" and works that "advance the art of the moving image, enhances the rich cultural heritage of America's art form, inspire audiences and artists alike and make a mark on American society."
