World-famous jeweler Tiffany & Co. has included a same-sex couple in an ad campaign for the first time.
Seven scenes of couples are part of Tiffany's new "Will You?" spread, which was shot by fashion lens man Peter Lindbergh. One of them showcases a pair of men in the middle of an affectionate pose while sitting on the steps of a building façade.
The jewelry firm's latest ad has drawn public praise for including a gay couple. The duo, apparently enjoying a moment on a stoop in New York City, is a couple in real life, a Tiffany & Co. spokeswoman said.
The company representative explained that the new campaign was a way to show that love comes in all shapes and sizes. The road to marriage is no longer linear nowadays, the rep said.
True love can take place several times with stories of love can come in different packages, the company's spokeswoman added.
The popular jewelry-maker, which opened shop 178 years ago, is famous for its small azure boxes. Tiffany joins other brands which are also featuring gay couples in promoting their products, from Target to Banana Republic.
One of the other images in Tiffany's campaign show a man and a woman with their daughter on their wedding day. The company said it is a tribute to mothers who are having babies out of wedlock.
The rest of the featured images show couples in several romantic backdrops: on the couch at home, in a convertible driving and on a city rooftop.
