The domestic violence case against Hope Solo was recently dropped last Tuesday, with a judge dismissing the charges against the soccer player at a hearing in Kirkland, Washington on Tuesday.

Solo's husband Jerramy Stevens attended the hearing, while she was at camp with the U.S. women's national team. The case was scheduled to go to trial the following week.

In a statement released by Solo, she said that the judge's decision brings closure to what one of the most difficult and emotionally draining times of her life. She also offers that she always believed that if the true facts of her situation were presented that she would be cleared of all charges.

Solo was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault. The charges stemmed from a June 21 altercation with her sister and 17-year old nephew.

According to several documents obtained by the Seattle Times, Solo charged her nephew, punched him in the face, and tackled him. The teenager's mother tried to intervene, but she was reportedly attacked by Solo as well.

Upon the police's arrival, they found that Solo's nephew's shirt was torn and that he was suffering from scratch marks on his arms. The nephew was also reportedly bleeding from a cut on his ear.

Just last month, Solo asked that the charges be dropped as her attorney had not been able to interview the alleged victims.

Todd Maybrown, attorney to Solo, told the court last Tuesday that the alleged victims have repeatedly failed to appear for a court ordered interview. In addition, he adds that they have changed details to their stories.

At the November hearing, Maybrown said that Solo was acting in self-defense after her nephew got angry and began hitting her with a broom handle.

Maybrown adds that the broom handle was swung with such force that it broke and caused Solo a concussion.
