She made the announcement during the pre-taped interview with talk show host Ellen Degeneres, which is due to be aired today January 15 on 'The Ellen Show'. "I'm going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars," she said in the interview.
Carey added that it is a special event for her and she hopes that her fans will enjoy her performances, which is kind of inspired by her album called Number 1's and her residency will showcase an updated version of all her number hits.
The singer was very excited and all smiles during the interview wishing that other people would also love what she will do. This is something she has not done before and some of the songs, even made her surprised and excited at the same time to perform them again.
It was said that she signed the deal about a week ago when she was seen in Vegas, eating at The Cheesecake Factory inside Caesar's Palace along with her twins Monroe and Moroccan.
High profile artists and performers have done a Vegas residency like Britney Spears and Celine Dion. And now it is Carey's turn to be in that spotlight starting on May 16, 2015. Caesars Palace announced that the opening for her residency is going to be at The Coliseum in Las Vegas.
