Canadian media has disclosed that Chinese singer Wanting Qu is dating Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.

The 50-year old mayor only divorced in March 2014, which raised some suspicion that Qu may have been his "mistress". On January 15, however, Qu personally admitted to the romance with Robertson on her Weibo, but denied ever being the third party in the latter's marriage.

"The man I love must be a man of integrity, loyalty, strong responsibility, having common pursuits and values of life, giving the colorful world respect, tolerance, and great love," Qu's Eeibo post said.

"I believe marriage is sacred and serious. A person's happiness cannot establish on breaking up others' marriage and also even cannot build in cheating, others' pain, and desperation. Thank God for giving me music. Thank fans for giving me power. I am so proud to create freely and to earn my own living. Thank you for trusting me, my music and my value," she added.

After the very public online admission, Qu's agent, Ms. Ye, confirmed that Qu and Robertson have been in a relationship for two to three months but are not living together.

Qu has just finished her vacation in Hawaii and is preparing her new album while in Canada.  She is expected to back to China in August or September to release the new album.

Ms. Ye also revealed that Qu and Robertson knew each other since 2012 because they have met on many different occasions due to work. They started out as friends and just recently began dating formally.

Qu has called Ms. Ye's attention to the "mistress" rumors and sought her agency's help in ventilating them. While Robertson and his ex-wife were divorced in March, Qu only learned about it when she went back to Vancouver in July. 

Although Robertson is 18 years her senior, Qu is quite mature and independent woman, according to Ms. Ye. Robertson is said to be young at heart, and shares the same values on love and an interest in music and sports with the 32-year old Qu.
