The modern Bonnie-and-Clyde team has been arrested in Florida while sleeping inside a stolen vehicle.

The duo - 18-year-old Dalton Hayes and his 13-year-old girlfriend Cheyenne Phillips - were found asleep in a stolen 2001 Toyota Tundra while parked at Panama City Beach. The car was stolen by the pair in Henry County, Georgia, reports AP.

Law enforcers surrounded the vehicle and arrested the young couple who had previously eluded authorities across several states. They would be sent back to Kentucky to face felony charges.

The young lovers, who have been dating for three months, left their families in early January and are believed to have traveled to South Carolina and Georgia before their arrest in Florida.

Phillips pretends to be 19 and often gets away with it, disclosed Hayes's mother, Tammy Martin. She added that even Dalton believed her, and by the time he learned her real age, he was too in love to split with her.

Hayes left Kentucky with pending burglary and theft charges in Grayson County. Martin said Dalton failed to show up at a local judicial center on January 5 for indictment on the charges before a grand jury.

Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins described their behavior as "increasingly brazen and dangerous" based on evasion of law officers twice in Kentucky, crashing they first car they stole, stealing a truck, passing two stolen checks in Wal-Mart South Carolina and stealing another pickup truck in Henry County.

Chaffins said he had spoken to Hayes who had said he is very scared and wants to return to Kentucky where Dalton will face burglary, theft, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief charges. Cheyenne, on the other hand, will face the same charges in a juvenile court.
