A gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he attacked the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston on Tuesday and left a doctor fatally injured.
According to the Boston Police, the doctor was shot twice and that he was identified as a male surgeon although his name has not been mentioned to the public due to the request of the family. The victim was still reportedly in surgery until Tuesday evening.

The male shooter was identified by the police also on Tuesday evening and they said he is a 55-year-old man from Millbury, Massachusetts named Stephen Pasceri.
The shooting occurred at eleven in the morning at the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center of the said hospital. This area was then placed in a lockdown but authorities and staff from the hospital have already resumed their control over the area.
According to Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, they first received a call at 11:04 am from the hospital where a shooting was reported. Another caller reported minutes after that a doctor was shot.
Police are saying that the shooter went to the hospital and asked for the doctor's name. He then took out a gun when he met the doctor then shot him twice.
"He was targeted, and the reason right now is not clear. There's something in the past that upset this guy to come in looking for this particular doctor," said Evans. "Our prayers go out to his wife, and we all pull for his speedy recovery."
The gun that was believed to have been used in the shooting was found beside the suspect who was inside an examining room. The shooter was neither a doctor nor a patient at the hospital. It is not yet clear what the relationship of the shooter was to the victim.
The hospital said they did not have a metal detector installed at their entrances but it is something they are already considering to install.
