Acer has announced two new Chromebooks targeted at the education sector, following the launch of the Chromebook 15 at CES 2015.
The two rugged Chromebooks come in sizes 11.6-inch (C740) and 15.6-inch (C910), with 1366 x 768 or 1920 x 1080 resolution, respectively.
Internally, the C740 has the option of 2GB and 4GB of RAM, while the C910 only features 4GB of RAM. Both features 16 or 32GB of internal storage, with the usual free cloud storage from Google Drive. Customers can choose between Intel's Broadband-based Core i3-5005U or Celeron 3205U.

The Chromebook C740 starts at $259.99 and the C910 starts at $299.99. Both will be available in the United States on February, with more markets coming later in the year.
Acer is making a push into the education sector, where Lenovo and Samsung currently rule, alongside Apple's iPad sales. Chromebooks recently overstepped Apple's iPad in education sales, but still lack any real consumer adoption.
The rugged design of the two Chromebooks should make them a good sell to education organizations, especially since Google pre-loads all applications necessary for a student.
