MetroPCS has announced a new limited time offer for its pre-paid unlimited 4G LTE plan, now costing $50 per month, down $10 from its previous price.

Considering the plan is also available on MetroPCS' parent T-Mobile for $80 per month, it is an excellent saving for anyone in the market for a pre-paid contract and smartphone.

Customers will need to buy a Huawei Vitria, Kyocera Hydro XTRM; LG Optimus F3, F6, F60; Samsung Galaxy Avant, Light, MEGA, S III, S4, S5; or ZTE ZMAX device to start the plan.

MetroPCS also offers a $40 per month option, offering 1GB of 4G LTE data (or $50 for 3GB) and then throttled unlimited 2G/3G data afterwards. This $50 looks much more lucrative to customers who use a lot of data every month.

The deal is definitely an excellent option for anyone not bothered about a low-end smartphone (excluding the S4 and S5). The amount of pre-paid buyers actually bothered about unlimited data tends to be low though, compared to other plans.

MetroPCS makes no mention on when or if the unlimited data will run out after a certain time, or any mention of potential caveats to the unlimited 4G LTE service. The wireless service might run into problems if customers start overusing the network.

T-Mobile recently announced new pre-paid plans focused on giving customers more options.

Sprint's Virgin Mobile also released a new price structure, focused on less customization and more smarter choices.
