"Dear Google Worker," begins the letter a little girl sent to Google to plead for her dad's day off. Katie, writing in crayon on wide-ruled paper, asked Google to cut his dad some slack at work. The letter went viral Thursday after it first appeared on Reddit.

"Can you please make sure when daddy goes to work, he gets one day off. Like he can get a day off on Wednesday. Because daddy ONLY gets a day off on Saturday," the little girl's letter reads.

In two postscripts she went on to explain that her dad is celebrating his birthday and reminded the anonymous worker that "It is summer, you know."

The letter found its way to the desk of Senior Design Manager Daniel Shiplacoff who wrote back to compliment her dad for his hard work.

"Your father has been hard at work designing many beautiful and delightful things for Google and millions of people across the globe," he said, after thanking the little girl for her thoughtful request.

The Google boss obliged with some really good news.

"On the occasion of his Birthday, and recognizing the importance of taking some Wednesdays off during summer," Schiplacoff wrote, "the internet giant is giving him the entire first week of July for vacation."

In an interview with "The Blaze," a Google spokesman confirmed that the letters are legit. Google refused to comment further.

Silicon Valley is known for its "company first" value, requiring workers to push 60- to 80-hour workweeks. The exchange between Katie and Google shows that there's a soft spot in the tech's hard-driving culture.
