A house party in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday turned into a tragedy after three people died and five others were hurt in a shooting incident. An earlier report said there were two deaths and six injuries.
About 50 people attended the event held in a small house. The gunshots were heard at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, said Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer.

He said the shootings were likely gang-related and most of the people who were at the party refused to cooperate. So far, no arrest have been made.
Three of the injured were rushed to Nebraska-Medicine-University of Nebraska Medical Center on a hospital ambulance, while the other three were driven in a private car, reports AP. One of the injured eventually died in the hospital.
One of the two dead women is 19-year-old Ja'Kela Foster, a mother of a 1-year-old boy. According to Kristina Young, the mother of Foster, her boyfriend received a call from an aunt at 2 a.m. about a shooting incident with Foster possibly involved.
Young said she told Foster not to go to the party because it would surely have alcohol, which could lead to violence. And her fears turned out to be true. Foster told her she was going to another place on Friday night but actually went to the party.
The other dead woman is 24-year-old Latecia Fox. There are no details about Fox. The third victim, who died after a few hours was 24-year-old Cameron Harris.
Schmaderer said it is yet to be established if the three were the intended targets of the gunman or were just bystanders. He added the five injured are in stable condition.
One of the bullets hit the house across the street where the party was held. Dorothy Wayne, the owner of the unit, recounted that she and her husband were sleeping when the bullet entered the wall of their front bedroom and hit the far wall. Fortunately, the couple was not injured.
One angle that investigators are looking into is if the incident is related to another shooting several blocks away at 10 p.m. on Friday. A man and a woman were wounded in that incident.
Schmaderer appeals to witness to come forward, saying, "Now that you are away from the scene and have opportunity to be away from any intimidation, I'm asking you for the sake of the community to contact law enforcement," quotes TVNZ.co.nz.
