Being a member of the 98th percentile could be very lonely. The elite society for the intellectually gifted, American Mensa, recently teamed up with online dating giant Match.com to give lonely geniuses a place to connect on a more emotional level.
An exclusive dating service website accessible only to people with confirmed genius-level IQ, Mensa Match was launched Monday to give home to Mensans and non-Mensan braniacs. As with the traditional Match.com, members of the high IQ society can sign up and create their profiles, with option to add a special badge on their profile signaling their interest in connecting with other Mensans.

According to Match.com's official blog, "80 percent of singles say they 'must have' or find it 'very important' to be with someone of the same intelligence level."
This resonates well with Anne Sereg, 55, an IT project manager who told CNN that she's been on a hiatus from the dating scene because she just couldn't connect with anyone who were not intellectually curious.
"When you're talking about physical traits and not existential philosophy, I'm not going to get the vibe," says Sereg. The Georgia State University law degree holder went on to say that she only wants someone who can keep up with her.
People with very high IQ can feel "entitled" to love, says author of the "The Tao of Dating" Ali Binazir in his article "Why the Smartest People Have the Toughest Time Dating."
"You need to remove the barriers to love. And when you exclude those people, as smart people tend to do, that's when you become lonely," Binazir explains. Mensa Match was created to help brainy daters find common ground.
The announcement of the Mensa-Match.com partnership came with a heat map that traces the brainiest cities in the US. It also offers to test Match.com members who think they are Mensa material for only $1 until July 6.
