The first day of Aaron Hernandez's murder trial has begun. The day's events contained two witnesses coming forward to testify.
Hernandez, former player for the National Football League's (NFL) New England Patriots, is on trial for the June 2013 murder of a semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.

The day opened accordingly, with opening statements and a lunch recess.
When the trial continued, the prosecution called two witnesses to the stand. The first witness was Lorne Giroux, Lloyd's boss.
Giroux owned a Norwood fertilizer company where Lloyd was working. Once there, he said that a day before Lloyd's death, Giroux received a text message from him confirming that he will be working at the fertilizer company the next day.
Afterwards, the second witness was called. He was a 17-year old student, Bishop Feehan, who found the body of Lloyd during his afternoon job the next day.
The prosecutor, William McCauley, asked Feehan asked to recount the events of the day. It was a precise questioning with very detailed and precise questions, even combing over what sneakers he was wearing that day.
Afterwards, McCauley showed a picture of Lloyd's body with his back on the ground and a Red Sox hat a few feet away from the body.
The proceedings ended after that. The court will reconvene for a half-day tomorrow.
This current case puts in to focus the violent streaks of rich young NFL players. It also reinforces the point of several people who question the off-field behavior of the players.
While the whole case is circumstantial at best, a conviction would mean life without parole for Hernandez.
Evidence on the murder of Lloyd would have never surfaced if a friend of Hernandez did not come forward and sue the former Patriots player who shot him on a separate occasion.
As if that wasn't enough, Hernandez is also charged in a drive-by shooting that killed two men outside a Boston nightclub in 2012.
