Twitter CEO Disappointed by Lack of Abuse Filters

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has given his own thoughts on the lack of support for victims of abuse on the microblogging service following several high profile cases of abuse being mishandled or not handled at all by Twitter.
In an internal group chat, Costolo talked about the way Twitter handles abuse and some of the things they're trying to work on to prevent further abuse on the platform.

"We suck at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform and we've sucked at it for years. It's no secret and the rest of the world talks about it every day." Costolo said. "We lose core user after core user by not addressing simple trolling issues that they face every day."
"We're going to start kicking these people off right and left and making sure that when they issue their ridiculous attacks, nobody hears them. Everybody on the leadership team knows this is vital."
Costolo doesn't give a good overview of what the new solution is, but it's clear Twitter is on the case after failing to deliver a good solution for reporting abuse.
The issue currently is a group ganging up on one individual, either to abuse or report them. This type of community driven reporting is not good for anyone, and Twitter needs a better personal solution for each reported issue.
Some have suggested Twitter invest heavily in support and report teams. Having a human support staff might be exactly what Twitter needs, but Costolo is still unsure if the expense of a fully staffed support team is worth the investment.
Twitter isn't the only place seeing cyber abuse, but it's the most common site for anyone who has been subject to online attacks against them since it's open to burner accounts and has various routes for trolls to send messages.
