The University of South Carolina campus was rocked on Thursday by a shooting incident that involved only two people. Police said the incident happened in one room and took only a few minutes.
The incident took place at the university's Arnold Public School of Health on its Columbia campus. The university's website alerted all students at 1:16 p.m. of Thursday to find a safe shelter. By 2:15 p.m., it assured everyone in the campus that the threat was gone. However, students were advised not to go near the public health school.

However, it is unclear if the gunman and the victim were students, faculty or employees of the university. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division did not release the identities of the two people involved.
Harris Pastides, president of the university, in a statement, confirmed what police spokesman Thom Berry said that it was a murder-suicide, indicating that the gunmen shot someone and then turned the gun on himself or herself.
Pastides called the incident a great tragedy and said the whole university shares its thoughts and prayers with the family of the deceased.
However, CNN, quoting Berry, reports that the two dead people appear to be in a relationship.
